Delete Your Data

Delete from inside the app

This is the quickest route and it takes effect straight away. It is also the only route that can confirm the request is really yours, because Step N Scroll accounts are anonymous — there is no email address or password attached to them for us to check against.

On iPhone

1. Open Step N Scroll and go to the Scan tab.
2. Tap the gear icon to open Scan settings.
3. Under Data, tap Delete All Scan Data, then confirm with Delete Everything.
4. To remove a single scan instead, press and hold it in your scan history and choose Delete.

On Android

1. Open Step N Scroll and go to the Profile tab.
2. Under Your data, tap Delete my scan data.
3. Confirm when asked. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

Deleting your data does not cancel a paid subscription. See the subscriptions note below.

Request deletion by email

If you have already uninstalled the app, or you cannot reach the button for any reason, email us at privacy@stepnscroll.app

Because accounts are anonymous, we cannot look you up by name or email address. To find your data we need something that ties a purchase to you, so please include whichever of these you have:

• Your App Store or Google Play order number for a Step N Scroll purchase.
• The email address on the store account used to buy the subscription.
• The approximate date you bought it, and which plan.

We will confirm receipt within 7 days and complete the deletion within 30 days, in line with the GDPR. If we cannot match a request to any stored data — which is expected if you never used the Future Walk Self scan — we will tell you that rather than leave it unanswered.

What gets deleted

Deleting your scan data permanently removes, from our servers and our storage:

• Every photo you uploaded for a Future Walk Self scan.
• Every image generated from your photo, including previews and thumbnails.
• The intermediate images produced while processing a scan.

What we keep, and why

We are explicit about this because "delete" is often taken to mean every trace disappears, and that is not quite what happens:

• A record that a scan happened — its date and the step count at the time — is kept with all images removed. This is what keeps your monthly scan allowance correct; without it, deleting scans would hand out unlimited free ones.
• Purchase and billing records are held by Apple and Google, not by us. We cannot delete those, and we are required to keep our own transaction records for tax purposes.
• Anonymous diagnostics (crash and usage counts) are not linked to your identity and cannot be traced back to you, so they are not affected by a deletion request. They are retained for up to 24 months.

Data that never reaches us in the first place

Some of what the app uses is only ever held on your own phone, so there is nothing for us to delete:

• Your step and activity data. It is read from Apple Health or Health Connect on the device and never uploaded.
• The apps you chose to block. On Android the blocker reads only the name of the app being opened, on the device; on iOS the system hands us opaque tokens we cannot even read. Neither is uploaded.
• Your name or nickname, goal and onboarding answers. These stay in the app's local storage.

Deleting data is not the same as cancelling

Removing your data does not cancel an active subscription, and uninstalling the app does not either. Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google and can only be cancelled through the store you bought them from — in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
